hSo secures place on G Cloud 9
The UK Government’s Crown Commercial Service has awarded hSo a place on the latest iteration of Crown Commercial Service's G Cloud framework, G Cloud 9.
Since its inception in 2012, the framework has simplified how the Public Sector buys Cloud services, creating an open environment to connect with providers of all sizes, either SMEs or larger suppliers and improving local and central government efficiency.
The new Framework Agreement is for use by UK Public Sector bodies which allows them to choose and purchase cloud computing services covering infrastructure, platform, software and specialist cloud services. The framework is for commodity based, pay-as-you go cloud services across three lots:
Lot 1: Cloud Hosting (IaaS) and (PaaS) - these must be cloud platform or infrastructure services that can help buyers do at least 1 of: deploy, manage and run software and provision and use processing, storage or networking resources
Lot 2: Cloud Software (SaaS) - these must be applications that are typically accessed over a public or private network e.g. the internet and hosted in the cloud
Lot 3: Cloud Support - these must help buyers set up and maintain their cloud software or hosting services
Among the services now listed on the Digital Marketplace is hSo's Virtual Data Centre offering, part of the lot 1 - Cloud Hosting of the G Cloud 9 framework, a scalable cloud computing platform, providing on-demand storage, server resources and applications.
Editors Note: This article was published in 2017. Since then, hSo has been awarded places on subsequent G-Cloud frameworks. At the time of writing, in August 2022, hSo is a supplier under G-Cloud 12.
