Frequent Business Traveler magazine recently reported that business travel is set to increase steadily throughout the course of 2013.
A third of those workers surveyed by the magazine reported that they were likely to travel more for work this year than they did last year, and 50 per cent of those surveyed said that they were likely to be travelling far more this year than back in 2011.
This increase in business travel will also lead to an upturn in the demand for technology which enables better communication, along with membership schemes, such as those linked to airlines and hotel accommodation.
Editorial director at Frequent Business Traveler magazine, Jonathan Spira, told Telappliant, “As business travel increases, business travelers are becoming more demanding about what they want. Because these people are on the road so often, they won't compromise in what they get and airlines and hotels need to find more and better ways to cater to them.”
A quarter of business traveller survey respondents reported that their choice of airline was now dependent on the availability of on-board internet, and 73 per cent reported that this availability of technology impacted greatly on their choice of hotel.
Services such as VoIP are now being seen as an ‘invaluable tool’ for business travellers, thanks to its ability to get in touch with colleagues in the office at home, as well as keeping in contact with clients whilst travelling.
As a result of this, many businesses are now looking at VoIP prior to sending their staff on business trips, thanks to the ability of the service to be tailored to specific business requirements.
