Service concerns and edge issues top VoIP complaints
Users running hosted VoIP services have named quality of service and edge issues as their main gripes with the unified comms product.
The SIP Survey 2016 found 27 per cent of users have experienced edge issues like badly configured firewalls, NAT (network address translation) or SBC (session border controllers), Computing reported.
And 22 per cent of users still have quality of service problems like call drop-outs and delays on the line.
SIP said its results raise concerns about the dependability and reliability of networks.
“Initial configuration issues accounted for a further 19.88 per cent of headaches, while remote configuration of cloud services came to 4.68 per cent,” Computing reported.
“Hardware, meanwhile, was responsible for 7.6 per cent of issues, with the particular focus here on adding, moving or reconfiguring handsets and softphones.”
