Employers failing to embrace mobile technology, study finds
Employers are failing to take advantage of mobile-friendly technologies and are relying on outmoded workplace processes instead, according to a report.
A study by Changepoint found that while the workforce is mobile-savvy, their employers aren’t - and they’re eager to work with new tools and platforms that suit their mobile preferences.
Changepoint’s report, Mobile Keeps Business Moving Forward, reveals that although the vast majority (78 per cent) of employees want to use mobile time-tracking apps, just 11 per cent currently do so.
Firms are instead continuing to use old-fashioned methods, including spreadsheets (28 per cent) and pen and paper (36 per cent).
Changepoint said firms relying on outmoded tools are hindering their productivity and losing time and money.
Eric Bergman, vice president of product management for Changepoint said: “We use our smartphone to check the weather, confirm flight info, read the news, call an Uber, or order a cup of coffee.
“Mobile is second nature in our everyday lives, but some of the most agile, tech-forward businesses still use spreadsheets and paper to collect business-critical data despite its impact on staffing and project decisions.”
