Renault rolls out SaaS HR system
Car firm Renault is rolling out a new SaaS HR system across its international business, it as been announced.
The vehicle manufacturer will link the SaaS system with its current on-site SAP core data repository, which hosts its HR master data. The new system, which is part of a project called Talent@Renault, is set to be rolled out at the end of August.
Renault says the new SaaS implementation came about as a result of a need for the firm to boost HR efficiency and reduce the time spent on administrative and operational duties.
The project will help Renault reduce the number of separate HR tools it needs to use. For example, previously HR information-sharing involved transferring large Excel files. Under the new system, HR information will be able to be shared more easily and consistently, the company hopes.
Suzanne Consigny, vice president of HR operations at Renault, recently told delegates at the SuccessConnect conference in London, “We need to be more focused on what really matters. We spend far too much time on tasks with too few added-value [benefits].”
Another key issue for Renault choosing the SaaS system which is being implemented was that they wanted something which could be implemented quickly across the global businesses. The company is working to a six-month implementation schedule.
ComputerWorldUK quotes Jean-Yves Gay, Talent@Renault project manager, as saying, “We wanted to avoid a specific tool for Renault.”
He added, “[We would] accept exceptions [to the standard software] only for legal reasons. We chose a tool to configure, not to develop.”
To facilitate the changeover to the SaaS system, Renault will run a series of workshops and training sessions with staff to make sure relevant employees are confident with the software and can use it to its full potential.
Businesses looking to move services into the cloud, should evaluate the performance of their existing network and consider setting up a leased line or MPLS network.
