MPLS and Ethernet Congress details announced
A number of details, including the outline of the main presentations, have been announced for the 2012 MPLS & Ethernet World Congress.
The event, which is to take place in Paris between the 7 and 10 of February 2012, is some way away but the industry is already gearing up for the conference, which will address the key elements of important new technologies. Some of the key topics that will be discussed at the conference include MPLS-TP, end-to-end MPLS and cloud computing.
MPLS was first introduced to improve the speed of routers and provide traffic engineering functions. However, over time the service has evolved and conferences, such as the one in February, help to address important developments and ensure that technicians are working from similar guidelines and benefiting from the latest technology.
For example, MPLS networks can now work with VPNs, Layer 2 transport and help with the elimination of multiple layers, as well as boosting speed possibilities on IP-based networks.
However, with the increasing popularity of cloud computing, new possibilities for the use of MPLS are starting to open up. The need for servers to be deployed on an 'extreme scale' while maintaining the resilience of connectivity, increase the demands on a network when cloud computing is used, and MPLS can help in these situations.
The system can, for example, facilitate the use of VPN networks and inter-cloud options, helping businesses to benefit from the full potential of the cloud.
The Paris congress will also look at the changes in the ethernet arena, which is enjoying a high level of success thanks to its flexibility and cost-efficiency and its compatibility as a carrier grade technology when transporting services like MPLS.
