Staffordshire businesses 'more productive' thanks to superfast broadband
The rollout of superfast broadband in Staffordshire has significantly boosted local businesses in the area. The Lymedale Business Centre in Newcastle was the first place in the county to have access to fibre to the premises (FTTP) technology and are already reaping the rewards.
The connection, which can allow download speeds of up to 330 Mbps, has had wide-ranging benefits for the 36 businesses located at the business park. For example, in an interview with The Stoke Sentinel, Lyndon Eaton, director of IT business company Luminite, said that the company has been able to expand its product business, thanks to the high speeds. “As a result of the scheme, not only have we benefited from much-improved speeds ourselves, but we have also been able to expand our own product portfolio.”
Other businesses are also seeing the benefits of superfast broadband, with companies seeing widespread productivity and a reduction in lengthy waits. They also noticed that large files that were being transferred were taking less time to download. One company in particular, PlinkFizz, has seen a significant difference in the way they deal with external communications and can hit important and tight deadlines more efficiently. Kerryanne Clancy, PR account manager for PlinkFizz, said: “Daily processes now take us minutes, rather than hours, which is helping to improve our efficiency as a business. It also helps by making us appear more professional to both clients and suppliers as we're able to hit tight deadlines.
“Fibre broadband has improved our external communications considerably."
With the introduction of superfast broadband, up to 89,000 homes and businesses have been connected to superfast speeds. The anticipation is that more businesses and households will get access to the connection due to the positive reaction the connection has had to local businesses.
