Connecting Cheshire to connect 10,000 more premises
An extra 10,000 homes and businesses in Cheshire are to gain access to superfast broadband following the announcement of a new rollout.
Teams have already begun laying the cables and infrastructure to deliver the fibre broadband to towns and villages across the county. It is the second phase of the Connecting Cheshire superfast broadband rollout, which is expected to carry costs of around £6 million and will target premises across Cheshire, Halton and Warrington as well as more rural areas such as Arley, Burleydam, Gawsworth, Huxley and Wincle.
The funding for this phase of the initiative has come from a variety of sources, including Cheshire East, Cheshire West and Chester, Halton and Warrington councils, the government and BT. Further investment is reportedly being sought to get faster speeds delivered to the region's most rural and challenging areas.
To date the Connecting Cheshire programme has seen 84,000 homes and business across the country gain access to superfast broadband. Strategies have also been devised to ensure the roll-out of superfast broadband reaches virtually all premises by the end of 2017, which coincides with the Government's aim of getting 95 per cent of the UK access to superfast broadband in two years' time.
Councillor David Brown, deputy leader of Cheshire East Council, commented: "This is fantastic news for residents as we will be able to reach more premises with fibre, particularly those rural areas where some of the lowest speeds remain.
"We are determined to ensure that faster broadband is available to as many premises as possible so that the social and economic benefits can be realised – not only for our businesses but for people of all ages."
Almost all businesses today need reliable, superfast broadband, which is not always available in their area, so getting a dedicated leased line for the premises can be the best solution. hSo provides managed networks designed for business - to get an instant cost for a leased line at your location, visit our online leased line price checker.
