BT says Deddington will be first all fibre telephone exchange
A new BT blog has announced that Deddington in Oxfordshire will be the first telephone exchange in the UK to receive the company’s fast fibre broadband.
It said that Deddington will be the first all-fibre exchange in a project that will see BT’s Openreach division install fibre networks all over the UK. The blog stated, 'From early 2013 all customers will be able to opt for our fibre-optic service BT Infinity; and get super-fast broadband up to 100Mb.'
Those in Deddington will be able to access the faster broadband from January 2013 through BT’s fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) . BT explains, ‘The Deddington exchange is being upgraded to offer FTTP technology to all customers. This is a huge step forward for those connected to this exchange and it will ensure a significant increase in broadband speeds and even more reliable communications.’
Over the coming months, BT will be working to roll-out its FTTP and fibre–to-the-cabinet (FTTC) networks across the UK to try to improve broadband speeds in areas that currently experience slow connections.
Fibre-optic networks send information through glass networks instead of through copper cables, which increases speed and delivers a smoother connection to broadband customers.
For those who do not have access to fast broadband, and particularly businesses that need a faster connection, leased line deals can be a good option. Any firm looking into increase their use of cloud computing options should look into leased line deals to find out if they can connect to the network in their area.
