Number of remote-working jobs to grow
A recent survey carried out in the US, has found that the number of remote jobs, which can be carried out from home via a fast internet connection, is growing
The study by online workplace consultancy oDesk, found that a greater number of contractors are likely to work online, remotely, by 2020. The labour market in general is expected to receive a boost as a result of the trend for remote working.
oDesk talked to 2,839 businesses and 88 per cent said that they agreed that having online working allowed their business to be more competitive. They said that hiring online workers was less stressful. Some 80 per cent said remote workers helped to grow revenues and 85 per cent said they helped to get products to market faster.
Furthermore, some 54 per cent of the respondents, who all already use online workers, said that they will at least double their spending on remote workers next year. They said that finding people with the right skills was difficult and that hiring people online, who can work more flexibly opened up more talent in the recruitment process. Some 95 per cent of respondents agreed that finding a job will be “more dependent on having the right skills than on location” in the future.
In addition, some 75 per cent of respondents said that they would struggle to find the talent they have attracted through offering online working if they were looking for people who could work in the office.
In order to offer remote working options, businesses need to be able to rely on their internet connectivity. Leased line internet can ensure that a business has a dependable connection at all time.
