Lit Fibre network goes live in Worcestershire town of Evesham
Internet service provider Lit Fibre has gone live with its 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network in the town of Evesham, Worcestershire. The town is the fourth to go live as part of Lit Fibre’s network rollout, through which the provider is aiming to deliver FTTP broadband to 500,000 UK homes by 2026.
Tom Williams, CEO of Lit Fibre, said: “Lit is on a mission to quickly bring full-fibre services to towns like Evesham with the minimum fuss and disruption to residents. Our superior broadband and Wi-Fi services are what residents should expect of their broadband supplier – great value, amazing speeds and a reliable, consistent connection.”
The news of the switch-on comes several months after the company announced it would begin to deploy its 10Gbps capable network in Evesham and began the physical build in November last year.
The ISP recently announced that it had adopted the Network Innovation Platform and E9-2 Intelligent EDGE system from Calix to “future-proof” its infrastructure and has credited the rapid deployment of its network to the system.
Tom Williams commented: “A key reason we’ve been able to deploy so quickly is the simplified network and operations delivered by the Calix platform. We’ve reduced the time to deploy new services, accelerated subscriber installations, and cut operations expenses.”
Lit has also started to build in other towns in Worcestershire as well as Gloucestershire, Hertfordshire, Suffolk, and Essex. While most of these are yet to go live, the company has begun taking orders for its services in these areas. In December 2021, Lit Fibre said that it was at an "advanced stage" of a build to deliver FTTP to Clacton-on-Sea in Essex and announced that it would begin a rollout in the nearby town of Frinton-on-Sea in January 2022.
Lit’s FTTP rollout, which replaces its old copper-based network, has been backed by an unspecified equity investment from Newlight Partners LP.
