Hyperoptic confirms its coverage of over 750,000 UK premises
London-based ISP Hyperoptic has announced that its alternative full-fibre network now covers over 750,000 premises in the UK. The provider, one of the country's leading alternative full-fibre networks, has also announced its latest goal, which will see it aim to cover two million UK homes by the end of 2023 and five million by 2024.
This latest target comes after the company, which is backed by global investment firm KKR, missed its previous target of covering two million UK premises by the end of 2021.
Hyperoptic first emerged in 2011 and engages in builds which primarily focus on large residential areas and new build housing in towns and cities. The provider builds its own full-fibre network, meaning it can offer its broadband network without relying on Openreach or Virgin Media infrastructure.
Its rollout has gathered significant pace in recent years, with the network having gone from 100,000 premises in 2015, to 400,000 in 2019. Hyperoptic's coverage has now increased to more than 750,000 premises, with its network available in parts of 57 UK cities and towns.
Dana Tobak, CEO of Hyperoptic, said: “The full fibre market is reaching a point of scale in its rollout, as the market collectively hits 28 per cent coverage across the UK. As our industry grows, network operators need to show that their investment is sustainable and is delivering a service that customers are willing to pay for. For Hyperoptic, that means our growth is aligned to a dual focus; investing capital smartly to give the best return for both our customers and our business model.”
Tobak added: "Our plan is to continue scaling whilst delivering a phenomenal customer experience and, crucially, ensuring we maintain our strong customer take-up rates. To drive that, we are also setting the twin goals of our network passing two million homes by the end of 2023, whilst also maintaining a penetration rate of at least 30 per cent where our network is over two years old.”
