Companies looking to switch business broadband providers
Many companies are open to switching to another business broadband provider and are considering their options.
According to the new TalkTalk Business Value of Business Broadband survey, around one in five small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are currently looking for a new broadband supplier.
The report also found that more than a quarter are convinced about what type of business broadband package is the right one to suit their needs.
Charles Bligh, managing director of TalkTalk Business, stated that it is clear from the results of the study that Britain's small businesses deserve more from their broadband supply.
He said: "Every business understands the benefits of fast, reliable business grade broadband, but few realise you don’t have to pay above the odds for it. Our message to SMEs is clear: there is always a choice, demand more from your broadband provider."
More than half (59 per cent) of the SMEs taking part in the research indicated they have experienced problems with their current business broadband supplier. As modern companies rely increasingly on connections to the internet, it is likely this is costing them money.
Half of the respondents also stated that the government needs to do more to bring down the cost of superfast broadband to smaller companies. Although the Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition has invested heavily in the rollout of superfast technology, many businesses find they cannot afford to upgrade.
The government recently announced changes to a business broadband voucher scheme that it says will make it easier for companies to pay for improvements to their internet supply.
Fast connection speed was revealed by the TalkTalk Business Value of Business Broadband survey to be one of the top three purchasing considerations for companies considering a switch to a new broadband supplier, along with price and reliability.
Mr Bligh added: "If you're a small business owner and honestly don’t feel that your provider has your best interests at heart; that they understand your needs and are committed to your growth, you are being underserved."
Businesses looking to move services into the cloud should evaluate the performance of their existing network and consider setting up a leased line or MPLS network.
