Tool launched to help with cloud move
Businesses considering moving their applications from in-house servers to cloud computing platforms could be interested to learn that a new tool is available to simplify the process.
GigaSpaces' service, Cloudify, is designed to work as a platform and middleware stack-neutral system. It will integrate database information and middleware services without the need for a cloud vendor or a complicated migration process.
With industry professionals increasingly looking for a way of delivering a non-proprietary cloud system, the service could prove popular among many enterprises. Earlier this month, VMware chief executive Paul Maritz noted that “we are going to go into a multi-cloud world, where people will have different clouds for regulatory reasons”.
He explained that the sector is working to provide the architecture required to cope with the change, in order to protect cloud users from becoming reliant on one provider.
Meanwhile, Nati Shalom, chief technology officer at GigaSpaces, observed that Cloudify is helping businesses to get the most out of his situation. He explained that the service enables companies to make the move without the need for cloud vendors or a complicated migration process.
The service involves “no code change and minimal learning curve”, he added, which allows businesses to “continue to develop their traditional environment and leverage existing skills and assets while gaining the cost and agility benefits of deploying to the cloud”.
As an increasing number of tools to assist in migration to the cloud become available, companies might want to rethink their approach and consider moving their systems across in order to take their slice of benefits such as improved resilience and lower costs.
