Researchers predict growth in Cloud adoption
Analysts from market intelligence firm IDC have predicted a rise in the number of cloud computing applications in 2013.
Head of Research, Matthew Oostveen, said that a growing number of firms will begin to outsource their IT systems as cloud computing becomes increasingly ‘the norm’.
The European Commission is also predicting a rise in the use of cloud computing over the coming year, but claims that providers need to gain the trust of businesses for the technology to reach its true potential. A report from the EC claims that cloud computing can be responsible for the creation of an additional 3.8 million jobs in the EU. It can also generate an extra EUR900 billion in GDP, according to the Unleashing the Potential of Clouds Computing in Europe report.
In order for businesses in the EU to commit to cloud computing, they will need to see the government leading the way, according to the EC, which is encouraging governments to take up the new technology.
European conservatism towards technology is causing the continent to lag behind the US on cloud adoption, according to the report. However, cloud adopters are less concerned about security breaches than non-cloud adopters, according to research, which suggests the fears that the Cloud is insecure are largely unfounded.
Another source of positivity about Cloud adoption is a new study from IHS, which states that PC shipments are falling all the time as the growth of mobile continues to expand. As a result more and more people will be using Cloud technology in the use of apps .
The growth of clouds computing does hinge, however, on the availability of fast internet connections that are reliable and secure. hSo provides managed networks designed for business. To get an instant cost for a leased line at your location, visit our online leased line price checker.
