Firms embracing hybrid cloud computing
A hybrid cloud computing environment appears to be the most popular communications solution for businesses today.
In a recent survey of 150 enterprise CIOs and IT directors, it was revealed that the vast majority of firms are opting for a mixture of cloud computing and private data centres. Just 17 per cent of respondents indicated that they will just use private data centres, while the same number stated that they will only use the cloud.
Conducted by Ipanema Technologies and Orange Business Services, the research also revealed that over 63 per cent of businesses surveyed intend to use a mixture of traditional MPLS-based corporate networks and cost-effective IP-VPNS. The majority (70 per cent) explained that lowering costs is their primary driver in moving towards cloud computing.
Beatrice Piquer, marketing director for Ipanema, commented, “From this research it’s clear that a combination of cloud and private data centres is becoming the primary model for enterprise IT. The cloud can bring great benefits but a hybrid model will add complexity as applications are delivered from a variety of locations across different networks.”
Consulting a dedicate network services provider in decisions and subsequent network management could help businesses to navigate the hybrid cloud situation.
