Cloud tops IT investment for 2017
The cloud is IT professionals’ top investment priority for 2017, according to a poll by Information Week.
Its annual survey of IT spending priorities found that cloud spending is “far and away” IT managers’ most important area of spend for the months to come, with 36 per cent citing cloud as the technology that will receive the greatest investment at their companies in 2017.
Cloud was followed by data management (19 per cent), infrastructure (13 per cent), mobile/wireless (11 per cent) and dev ops (10 per cent) as IT professionals were asked to indicate their spending priorities for 2017.
Information Week said the results offered a “good snapshot” of what IT professionals are focused on.
The responses are similar to predictions from IDC that spending on cloud infrastructure will rise by 15.5 per cent in 2016 to reach $37.1 billion (£29.6 billion), representing 48.7 per cent of total enterprise IT spending by 2020.
