A British charity has embraced cloud computing in a bid to implement cost savings in its operations.
NSPCC, a leading children's charity, has established a cloud computing contract, which will also reduce time spent handling data, as well as lowering the costs of storing it.
The service has been arranged through Rosslyn Analytics and will improve the charity's systems when obtaining, managing and reporting data.
Catherine Dixon, general counsel and company secretary of NSPCC, added: “Employing best business practices and technologies used in the private sector that release funds to help even more children and assist us to navigate this difficult economic climate is a 'win win' for the Legal and Procurement teams.”
The charity will eventually use the enhanced spend visibility delivered by the service to focus on identifying and tracking savings opportunities through improved purchasing of goods and services.
Cloud computing solutions can be particularly effective for companies or organisations dealing with multiple other parties. Earlier this month, for example, the Birmingham Primary Care Shared Service Agency introduced a cloud computing system to deal with its supplier invoices.
The agency interacts with over 6,000 suppliers, so the cloud-based e-invoicing technology will deliver some substantial improvements in terms of efficiency when it comes to processing invoices, which can total up to 14,000 a year.
On top of the practical time-saving benefits enjoyed by the central organisation, systems like the two above will also benefit the external individuals dealing with them. The suppliers to the NHS group will be able to “access the status of an invoice throughout its journey and contact us in real time if they have any questions”.
