Standard Chartered Bank to roll out MPLS systems
Standard Chartered Bank is set to expand its services through the use of an MPLS system integrated into its bases at sites in Singapore, Beijing and New York.
Juniper Networks has been chosen to deliver the expansion, which will involve deploying secure, high-performance, scalable core, access and data centre network infrastructure for the firm.
The system will allow for the gradual growth of the networks without a substantial up-front cost. Instead, the process will be incremental as the interconnected EX4200 switches are delivered. Once complete, the services will operate as a single, logical device.
Douglas Murray, senior vice-president for Juniper Networks in the Asia Pacific region, commented: “Standard Chartered Bank is a tier-one financial institution that depends on its information infrastructure to accommodate growth and maximise revenue.”
The group added that the upgrades will deliver a “highly scalable, simplified, two-layer network architecture that will deliver low-latency and is fully redundant down to the access layer”.
The news comes shortly after Juniper Networks was awarded a ten-year infrastructure frame contract to support the Abu Dhabi Airports Company's aggressive expansion plans.
The airport owns and operates five of the emirate's airports and has subsidiaries supplying ground handling, duty free, cargo and other aviation services.
In order to facilitate its expansion in the industry, the group is launching a large-sale transformation programme, which will include the upgrade of its existing network infrastructure to build an MPLS network and cloud-ready data centres.
Michael Ibbitson, vice-president of information and communication systems at the ADAC, explained that the overall goal has been to enable the “provisioning of world-class facilities by implementing a service provider-grade network while reducing cost of ownership and capital and operational expenditure”.
