Belron invests in MPLS network
Global firm Belron has invested in a new MPLS network, it has been reported.
The company, which is behind household names such as Autoglass and Carglass, fixes almost 10,000 windscreens a day and deals with one job every three seconds, so it needs to be able to share repair data across its corporate network. Therefore, the firm needed a failsafe IT solution which maximises service availability and provides the ability to monitor systems and services.
It has now signed a three-year, £7 million deal with Easynet Global Services for an MPLS network across its UK, France and Ireland operations. The network will boost streamlined communications and improve application performance, as well as supporting the company’s cloud strategy.
Belron, the world's largest vehicle glass repair and replacement company, has highlighted its commitment to a customer-focused approach and the need for an efficient, monitored network to support this.
The company has over 25,000 employees and operates in over 30 countries, Mike Parkington, IT Vendor and Procurement Manager for Belron, said, "For us, the network is the driving force for our business. Each day we send out thousands of mobile technicians. The technicians need to know where to go, to whom they're speaking, what glass to use, how to bill customers and to record each job once complete. They are supported by hundreds of back office staff with totally different communication needs.”
He added, “Secure and monitored applications, systems and processes, and the ability to take advantage of cloud computing are at the core of our business.”
Experts have noted that corporate networks are critical to the success of a cloud strategy but research suggests that just a fifth of businesses consider the corporate network to be a key concern when they are moving to the cloud.
