Cheap Leased Lines - Sneaky Tips For Getting The Best Price
If you're looking for cheap leased lines, we've some insider tips that will help ensure you get a great deal...
Don't Limit Your Search To 'The Usual Suspects'
Those big-name firms that spend millions touting their cutting-edge networks have a secret they're not so keen to mention:
They provide those exact same 'next-generational' 'fibre-optic' '21st-century' 'MPLS' 'ethernet' leased line circuits to lots of other providers, at WHOLESALE prices!
So you can probably get your leased lines cheaper indirectly, by going to one of the smaller providers that buy from these big-name firms at wholesale rates.
Competition between the various ethernet circuit providers results in cheap leased lines for the customers of carrier-independent ISPs
Choose a Carrier-Independent Provider and You Can Make The Carriers FIGHT For Your Business
To find the cheapest leased lines, it pays to go to a provider who can get pricing from ALL the main carriers, rather than from just one of them.
There is often a HUGE difference in the prices quoted by different carriers for the same location. Make this difference work in your favour by picking a provider who compares the prices offered by different carriers, rather than just accepting whatever inflated price a preferred carrier quotes to them.
Don't Sign A Short 12 Month Contract. You'll Be Fleeced.
In the leased line industry, there's a technical term to describe people who sign a 12 month contract:
'Idiots'.
Unless you KNOW you're likely to be moving office in the next 24 months, it's a bad idea to sign a 12 month contract. You would kiss goodbye to any hope of getting a cheap leased line, as you'd have to pay FAR more per month of service - over the life of the contract - than if you'd signed a standard 3 year contract.
This is because your leased line provider will have to recoup their installation costs at least three times as fast. They'd also get a worse deal from their leased line circuit supplier, given the shorter contract period. So expect far higher installation charges, higher monthly charges, or both if you sign a 12 month deal.
Conversely, don't sign a five year contract without first checking that you're getting a significantly better deal than you'd get on a 3 year deal.
Sometimes, when companies try to find cheap leased lines they get responses that mention the monthly cost and the setup cost but that fail to mention the contract length required to get that pricing. It's critical that you find out the length of the contract being proposed, otherwise it's impossible to compare different leased line provider's quotes on a like-for-like basis.
Consider Ditching Your ISDN30 In Favour of SIP Trunking
If you spend quite a lot on fixed-line phone calls, have a relatively modern PBX and are paying substantial amounts to rent one or more ISDN30 circuits, you may be able to save money by switching to SIP Trunking.
This involves moving calls away from expensive traditional ISDN circuits, and on to cheaper leased lines.
The savings you'll get from lower call costs and reduced ISDN circuit rental charges could help make your cheap leased lines even more affordable!
These savings could be worth thousands - or even tens of thousands - per year. It all depends on how much you're currently spending on calls and ISDN circuits.
