AWS helps Leadinfo save 30% on IT Costs and improve developer efficiency by 50%
Lead generation specialist, Leadinfo helps B2B customers target sales prospects by analysing information about their website visitors.
After the COVID-19 pandemic, the amount of face-to-face sales calls decreased dramatically which meant that the need for lead generation increased and Leadinfo grew quickly.
Leadinfo originally built its IT infrastructure on Amazon Web Services (AWS), but as the company grew, Leadinfo worked with the AWS team to consolidate its databases to Amazon Aurora to better manage its rapidly expanding customer base, rising IT costs, and growing demands on developers. By doing this, Leadinfo reduced its monthly IT costs by 30 per cent and improved developer efficiency by 50 per cent.
“We looked at our ideal situation,” said Quirijn Kleppe, head of product and growth at Leadinfo. “We looked at which key performance indicators we set for ourselves and how easy it should be to develop a new feature. And then we started thinking, ‘OK, what do we need in order to get there?’ It became pretty clear that we needed a system that is easy to use, easy to learn, and easy to work with.”
The company then had to migrate its customer data from multiple existing databases to Amazon Aurora. “We had a lot of data, which all had to be migrated in a very efficient way so we didn’t duplicate anything or mess anything up,” said Kleppe. “So we started with migrating five customer profiles, then 20, 50, 100. After we picked out all the things that could go wrong or did go wrong, we migrated our whole customer base.”
According to Leadinfo, its customers didn’t notice any issues during the migration, but soon noticed improvements once it was completed. “They have noticed that our software is much more stable, that the data is always there when they need it to be,” Kleppe said. “This is important, because they build their whole sales model on our products.”
Leadinfo’s developers are also able to roll out new features for customers more quickly than before, because the migration made software updates more efficient by bringing data from multiple databases into one place.
Leadinfo has since added Amazon Athena, a query service for analysing data, and AWS Glue, a serverless data integration service to its infrastructure and is now able to roll out new service features much quicker which allows customers to generate sales leads faster and more easily.
