Launchmetrics expands infrastructure capacity 15x with AWS
Launchmetrics provides integrated marketing services that help brands across the fashion, luxury and cosmetics sector throughout the launch of new products. The firm’s platform provides insights and predictive analytics, enabling brands to increase exposure of their new products and then track coverage.
The company’s clients, including the likes of Hugo Boss and DKNY, constitute 75 per cent of the world’s biggest apparel brands. In order to ensure it was providing the best possible service, Launchmetrics sought to create a comprehensive launch-to-market strategy that would enable it to properly and effectively integrate newly acquired products into its infrastructure.
To achieve this, the company needed an agile, scalable cloud infrastructure and ultimately chose Amazon Web Services (AWS). Since migrating its infrastructure to the cloud, Launchmetrics Chief Engineering Officer Pau Montero Pares says that AWS has been “a constant help to our growth” and estimated that the company, at the time, used “about 30 AWS services.”
AWS services that Launchmetrics use include Amazon EC2 for compute capacity, Amazon S3 for large-scale storage, and Amazon Relational Database Service, which enables it to easily establish, operate and scale a cloud-based relational database.
Elsewhere, the company uses AWS CloudFormation to easily create and re-engineer complex environments at a fraction of the cost and time, while Amazon Virtual Private Cloud connects Launchmetrics’ AWS infrastructure to its two remaining physical data centers. Finally, its mission-critical workloads are protected using AWS Enterprise Support.
With AWS, Launchmetrics can expand its infrastructure capacity by up to 15 times during major events such as fashion weeks. Its AWS environment has the availability and elasticity to handle more users, saving the company the time it used to take predicting incoming loads months in advance.
AWS has also enabled Launchmetrics to cut the time required to deploy new product launches from months down to hours. Pau Montero Pares says: “We are always learning new ways to help fashion designers launch new products quicker, and now we have the best infrastructure to support us in our business.”
