Cherwell District Council and South Northamptonshire Council reap the benefits of working together

London, 26 September 2017 – After working closely together and sharing services to reduce costs and improve efficiency, Cherwell District Council (CDC) and South Northamptonshire Council (SNC) have appointed hSo (HighSpeed Office Ltd) to work with the Authorities in delivering a new data access network in line with their new IT strategy.

Looking to reduce costs, improve efficiency and deliver scalability for growth, they turned to hSo, one of the few SMEs to be appointed to the two year old Network Services Framework (RM1045), to build a joint Wide Area Network linking their 11 sites and introducing Crown Hosting to deliver improved Data Centre access.

The new network will also be the foundation for other changes identified by the new IT strategy. These other changes will be rolled out in line with the Authorities’ plan. These include internet access for all of their locations and SIP services to replace existing ISDN. These additions are designed to improve internet access and reduce voice costs. Both councils are committed to providing high quality services to their residents in the most efficient way. Thanks to hSo’s user-friendly Customer Portal and live monitoring solution, they will now have access to a wealth of information on their network, helping them monitor and make informed decisions.

Chris Evans, MD at hSo, commented “We’re really happy to be working together with SNC and CDC and assist in their partnership. Their defined ICT strategy was clear from the get-go, making it easy to work with them, and our WAN is the perfect solution to help them bring their long-term vision to life. In the difficult times ahead local government needs to demonstrate its worth and hSo is help the public sector in the most cost-effective and appropriate way.”

Claire Taylor at CDC/SNC, said “Finding the right supplier that would meet all our requirements and show the support and the expertise required is always a challenge. We undertook a competitive procurement process and knew from Rugby Borough Council, a neighbouring authority, that they were very happy with the hSo services that enabled them to realise their objectives whilst reducing costs. Hearing from another local authority with similar challenges cemented our decision to go with hSo.”
